Sleep Apnoea & Snoring
There’s nothing better than a good nights sleep but if you, or your partner, are one of the UK’s 15 million snorers then night-time can be a recurring nightmare.
When we sleep our nasal airways, palate and tongue relax, if they relax enough then the passageway becomes too narrow and partially blocks. This causes the airway tissues, from the vocal cords up to your nose, to vibrate making the snoring noise. Snoring has been measured at 140 decibels – that’s more than a chainsaw!
Sleep apnoea is when the airway completely collapses and you stop breathing altogether for a few seconds or even longer. This can be terribly disruptive to your sleep leaving you tired and irritable and prone to falling asleep during the daytime.
Sleep apnoea is a serious condition and is associated with a number of heart conditions and hypertension.
How we can help
Research shows that holding the jaws in the correct position keeps the airways open and reduces the vibration. To do this, we take digital scans of your jaw, this allows us to create a custom fitted device which gently advances your lower jaw whilst you sleep.
Our team of experts will work closely with you to find the ideal jaw position to ensure a good nights sleep for everyone!
