Many people are told that they need one or more dental implants, but the idea may be a little daunting if you have no experience in the dental industry.
But fear not, we are here to put your mind at ease, answer some common concerns surrounding implants and guide you through the uses, types, and timescales for dental implant treatments.
Let’s jump in.
How Are Dental Implants Used?
Dental implants are applied for a number of reasons but predominantly, they are used to anchor or support either a crown, a bridge or a denture of missing teeth.
A singular implant can be used to anchor one crown, with one implant required for each separate tooth that needs support. Two implants are able to support even more and have the capability of anchoring a bridge of between two and four teeth.
But it doesn’t stop at replacing just four teeth, dental implants can actually replace a jaw-full of teeth if required, often with a mere four implants required to replace all of your upper teeth, this treatment is known as allon4 or teeth in a day. With the lower jaw area where the bone is even stronger, implants are often able to manage with three implants to support the full set of teeth, which is quite amazing.
Another common application for dental implants is to help make dentures tighter and more secure, this means that having one fitted can be life-changing for those suffering with lower denture issues.
